Summer Reading Programs for Kids

Here are the 2015 reading programs for kids!

TD Bank: Starting June 1st, kids in grades K-5 can earn a $10 deposit for a new or existing Young Saver Account by reading 10 books this summer by August 31st. Just go HERE to print out the Summer Reading Form to record your books and when completed, then take it to your nearest TD Bank. One $10 offer per reader.

Barnes & Noble: Kids can earn a FREE BOOK when they read any 8 books.  You can record your books in a Reading Journal that can be downloaded HERE, available in both English and Spanish. Then, when its complete, bring it in to your local B&N store and kids can choose a FREE BOOK from their list. This program is designed for kids in grades one thru six and runs from May 19th thru September 7th.

 

JUNIE B. SUMMER READING CLUB: To participate in the Junie B. club, go HERE and download a complete Reading Log, Activity Brochure and Sticker Sheet. Parents can sign up for the Junie B. Jones Parent Newsletter and keep updated with news of special events, sweepstakes, fun games and activities for kids, and more.

Local Libraries: Don’t forget to check out your local library’s Summer Reading Program. The theme for this Summer for most locations is Dig into Reading! Many will have free activities and prizes for goals reached. Call your local library for details. You can also go HERE for a directory of national library systems. Click on your state and then find your city.

Chuck E Cheese: Now thru the month of June, Chuck E. Cheese is hosting “Reading with Chuck E.” story times at 11 am and 6 pm every Tuesday, featuring I Can Read! books including Danny and the Dinosaur and Little Critter. Plus, you can download activity sheets HERE good for 5 FREE tokens.Go HERE for more details and to find a participating location near you.

Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge – Power Up & Read: Now thru September 4th, kids can sign up and log their reading minutes to win cool rewards with this FREE online program from Scholastic. Parents can get reading tips, booklists and track their kids reading either online or on their phone. Go HERE for more details and to sign up, just click on the “Join Now ” button. While you’re there, check out the Read for the World Record event. Last year, kids set a new world record for summer reading by logging 304,749,681 million minutes in the 8th annual Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge. Join in the fun and help set a new World Record for summer 2014! All you have to do is log your reading minutes to be a part of it! Go HERE to get started.

Sylvan Book Adventure: Kids in grades K-8 can read a book from the Book Adventure list, take quizzes on what they’ve read, and earn prizes. To get started, go HERE to register. Kids need to score at least a 90% on the quizzes to earn points but quizzes can be taken more than once. You can check out the Prize Library HERE.
